Van Hire in Sunderland

The City of Sunderland is based on the banks of the River Wear and is made up of several towns such as Washington, Hetton Le Hole, Houghton Le Spring and a number of villages.  Sunderland is perhaps most famous for its shipbuilding, Between 1939 and 1945 the Sunderland shipyards built 245 merchant ships which was a quarter of the merchant tonnage produced in the whole of the UK for this period. Cheaper labour overseas caused a huge downturn in demand for Sunderland built ships at the end of the 20th century and the last last shipyard closed in 1988 causing the area huge job losses and a tough future.  The arrival of Doxford park though created thousands of jobs in its huge call-centers (North east based due to the friendy accent apparently) and Nissan has helped out by creating more jobs year on year because of its highly efficient staff, so, after a tough start the future is looking bright again for Sunderland.
